Ante todo un cordial saludo a toda esta fraternidad de Ubuntu....

mi problema es el siguiente, poseeo un equipo celular Kyocera modelo kx18, de la compañia Movistar, con una serie de caracteristicas como por ejemplo EVDO razon esta ultima por lo que lo compre desde el "Guidows" instalado los drivers me conecto por medio de cable USB ya que este equipo no posee bluetootch ni otra forma inalambrica de coxión al PC.

en mis intentos de conexion con linux he utilizado varias distros que eran un poco viejas y no me reconocian el equipo (Fedora Core 2, Mandrake 10.0, etc.) me entere de una distro que por lo que pude leer tiene muy buena acojida por ser muy amigable al usuario, esta es Ubuntu.

pues bien ya tengo el Ubuntu 6.10 y cuando hago el "lsusb" me dice que reconoce el equipo y me da en hexadecimal el modelo y fabricante y al lado coloca Kyocer wireles corp.

si me voy por el menu de dispositivos (no recuerdo el nombre) me reconoce el dispositivo pero no veo que lo reconosca como modem como lo hace con mi otro equipo motorola e815 que hasta le pone un puerto serial y la conexion si la he hecho con wdial aunque es lenta, pero al fin lo que quiero es conectar mi kyocera.

he hecho antes de esta consulta un estudio exaustivo por san Google y he hecho y aplicado todas las maneras de conexión por cable usb a ubuntu pero no he logrado nada

* al kx18 no lo reconoce como ttyACM a el motorola e815 si

* al kx 18  tampoco lo pone como ttyUSB

* al kx18 tampoco como ttyS0, S1, S2, etc.

por esto recurro a uds. no coloco mas datos porque no estoy en mi equipo si no en un cyber y es lo que me recuerdo.

bueno agradesco de antemano su atención y si me ayudan de verdad mil gracias

Hola,

excelentemente bien planteado tu POST, ahora bien, que hacer, pues por favor,

  1. Desconecta el cable del celular.
  2. ejecuta el un tail -f al syslog y al message
    • sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog > /home/<tu usuario>/syslog.txt <--Esto es en una Terminal
    • sudo tail -f /var/log/message > /home/<tu usuario>/message.txt <--Esto es en otra Terminal
  3. Conecta ahora el Celular
  4. Transcurrido unos 20 segundos, por favor procede a desconectar nuevamente el Celular.
  5. Ve a las terminales anteriores y pulsa <Ctrl>+C
  6. Por último ejecuta lo siguiente:
    1. Conecta el Celular
    2. ejecuta en una terminal ls -l /dev/ > /home/<tu usuario>/con_celular.txt
    3. desconecta el celular
    4. ejecuta en una terminal ls -l /dev/ > /home/<tu usuario>/sin_celular.txt
    5. Ahora ejecuta diff /home/<tu usuario>/con_celular /home/<tu usuario>/sin_celular > diferencia.txt
  7. Por favor postea o publica el contenido de los archivos diferencia.txt , syslog.txt y message.txt que deben encontrarse en tu carpeta home/<tu usuario>

Disculpa que te ponga a publicar tanta info, pero sin duda lo tuyo puede ser un "Cangrejo", y para poder ayudarte, lo mejor es que nos suministres todos estos datos.

Es bueno ver que alguien está probando el KX18, puedo ayudar.

Yo estaba a punto de comprarme uno de esos telefonos (KX18), ya que es el mas económico que soporta EVDO, pero si no lo puedo utilizar en Linux, pos en realidad no me importa.

En realidad nos basta con:

lsusb -v

y

lsusb

lspci no muestra info de hardware conectado al bus usb, serviría para revisar problemas en el bus PCI, pero no los debe tener porque sus puertos USB están funcionando.

En fin, avisanos si tienes éxito al conectar. Si no, estoy dispuesto a ayudar en lo mas posible, ya que el no tener que gastar el dinero en comprar uno solo para probar me serviría, y si funciona, pues me va a servir ya que necesito EVDO también.

Aparentemente tiene varios modos USB, prueba colocarlos manualmente y mira a ver si te reconoce alguno.

También puedes entretenerte mirando si el "Vendor ID" y el "Product ID" cambian entre los distintos modos USB, ejecutando "lsusb". A veces es util buscar el VID o el PID en google (o el valor completo VID:PID).

Cualquier cosa avisame, sabes que estoy esperando para ver si a ti te funciona, me compro uno yo.... no tengo mucho dinero como para comprar uno solo para probar. Estaba a punto de comprar un V3c (CDMA) que ya sé que funciona, pero es mas caro.

la verdad estoy muy agradecido y a la ves apenado por no responder antes, pues bien no pude seguir esperando y le cambie a mi esposa el KX18 por el nokia 6265 que ella tenia y me conecto por bluetooth sin mayor problema, pero viendo toda la yuda y el interes aqui manifestado voy, esta misma noche, a colocar la informaciòn se lo quitare prestado a ella y realizare las pruebas...

El 6265, me parece que no tiene EVDO

Hola!

Peeero, creo que el 6265 no tiene EVDO, entonces te saldría mas caro la conección... a menos que en tu zona no halla cobertura EVDO, en cuyo caso estarías en las mismas. Pero esa es la razón principal de querer buscar en e815 o un V3c o el KX18 (asumiendo que el KX18 llegue a funcionar bajo Linux).

Espero que funcione, ya que el precio sería el mas aceptable.
